Educational Objectives

Designed for primary care physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dieticians, and celiac patients, the Seventh Annual Stanford Celiac Conference is a comprehensive presentation on all aspects of celiac sprue including diagnosis, long-term medical management, current research on celiac sprue, gluten free diet basics, resources for a gluten free lifestyle, and gluten free cooking and baking. 

Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:

  • List common presenting signs and symptoms of celiac sprue; List tests and procedures used in the diagnosis of celiac sprue; Describe differential diagnoses for celiac sprue;
  • Identify problems encountered with incomplete diagnosis of celiac sprue and patients pre-maturely starting a gluten free diet;
  • Define new biochemical and immunologic research approaches for investigating celiac sprue; Identify target areas for celiac research; Describe current clinical trials related to celiac sprue;
  • Describe the gluten free diet and diet resources for celiac patients.
  • Describe the new food labeling laws and how they affect celiac patients.
  • Identify methods celiacs can use to lead a happy, productive gluten free life.

Accreditation

The Stanford University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

The Stanford University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 5 category 1 credits towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.  Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.

Directions to Fairchild Auditorium, Stanford

From US-101:  In Palo Alto take the Embarcadero exit west (toward Palo Alto/Stanford) and continue on Embarcadero for approx. 2 miles to El Camino Real.  Continue past El Camino Real onto the Stanford campus.  Once on the campus, Embarcadero changes its name to Galvez.  Stay in the right lane, turn right onto Campus Drive, turn right into the parking lot across from Panama St. and follow the signs to Fairchild Auditorium.

From Interstate 280: (more scenic, less traffic) Exit off Interstate 280 at the Sand Hill Road exit. Go east (toward Palo Alto/Stanford).  Turn right on Stock Farm Road.  Turn left on Campus Drive West.  Turn left into the parking lot across from Panama St. and follow the signs to Fairchild Auditorium.

Free parking is available on all roads and parking lots near the building.
